Getting BuildMaster up and running is normally just a matter of running the installer. This article will guide you through that process.
There are two different installers available for BuildMaster - they differ only in whether SQL Server 2005 Express is bundled. If you already have a SQL installation that you would prefer to use, you may download the smaller package. Once downloaded, run the installer.

Review the BuildMaster license agreement, and click Next if you are satisfied.

BuildMaster must be registered with a valid key for you to be able to use it. You have three options for registration:
Normally for a new trial, you will just want to select the Register Now option; this will give you plenty of time to try out the software. If you need more time, just contact us.
Click Next to confirm your registration selection.

Select where you would like BuildMaster installed. Five directories are configurable:
Once configured, click Next to accept your installation directory settings.

BuildMaster requires an instance of SQL Server 2005 or later. If you are using the installation package with SQL Express 2005 included, you may select the Install SQL Express 2005 instance option to have a BUILDMASTER database instance automatically installed. If you would prefer to use an existing SQL Server installation, select the Use an existing SQL Server instance option and provide a connection string.
When you have made a selection and are ready to continue, click Next.

When BuildMaster runs your deployment plans, it must do so in the context of a valid Windows user account. Selecting Local System will prevent any permission problems, but if you are concerned about security, you may select Network Service or any other local/domain user account.
After selecting a user account, click Next.

BuildMaster must have its own IIS Web Site, so its port cannot conflict with any other site you have on your server. Select an unused port for BuildMaster and click Next to continue.

BuildMaster Extensions provide integration with many tools and platforms, such as source control, issue tracking, unit testing frameworks, build tools, and more. You may choose which extensions to install, but if you are not sure which extensions you need, just install all of them. You can always remove them later.
When you are ready to install BuildMaster, click the Install button.

BuildMaster will now be installed on your system per the settings you have provided. When it is complete, you should be presented with this dialog:

All done! Click the Launch BuildMaster button to start using the software.
